I'm happy to introduce you the bunnies of the Topy Family. Their name is Bobby. I've already made them in 3 different versions.

MATERIALS

Yarn: cream, blue/yellow

  *I used: Himalaya Perlina: 50-50% cotton-acrylic, 100g/290m

Brown yarn or embroidery thread to sew nose and mouth, pink to sew blush

Safety eyes: 9 mm

Fiberfill: 100% polyester

Crochet hook: 2.5 mm

Yarn needle

Scissors

 

*You can use other type of yarn but doing so your bunny may look different and size may differ from the ones shown on the pictures. If you intend to use other yarn than suggested, I recommend to try using as similar as possible to get the same result.

 

Size of the Bunny made with the listed tools (appr.):

Height with ears: 21 cm / 8.26”

Height without ears: 15 cm / 5.90”

Width (head): 8 cm / 3.15”

 

ABBREVIATIONS

ch = chain

dc= double crochet

dec = decrease (invisible decrease!)

inc = increase

R = round (R1: first round, R2: 2nd round, etc.)

sc = single crochet

sl st = slip stitch

Place safety eyes between Round 12 and 13 of the head, 12 stitches apart. Start stuffing.

R26: (1 sc, 1 dec, 2 sc) - 6 times (24)

Continue stuffing.

R28: (1 sc, 1 dec) - 6 times (12)

R29: (1 sc, 1 dec) - 4 times (8)

Fasten off and close the remaining hole.

 

 

Ears

Make 2 with cream yarn

R1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

R2: 6 inc (12)

R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) – 6 times (18)

R4-9: 18 sc

Optional:

Change to yellow yarn after Round 5.

Change to cream yarn after Round 9.

R10: (2 sc, 1 dec, 3 sc, 1 dec) – twice (14)

R11-13: 14 sc

R14: (1 sc, 1 dec, 2 sc, 1 dec) – twice (10)

R15-17: 10 sc

Attach the ears on the head.

 

 

Body

Start with blue yarn

R1: 8 sc in Magic Ring (8)

R2: 8 inc (16)

R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) - 8 times (24)

R4: (2 sc, 1 inc) - 8 times (32)

R5: (1 sc, 1 inc, 2 sc) - 8 times (40)

R6-13: 40 sc (40)

Change to cream yarn after Round 12. If you want to highlight the waist of the trousers work back loops only in R13. (optional)

R14: (1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec, 5 sc, 1 dec, 4 sc) – twice (34)

R15-17: 34 sc

R18: (1 dec, 6 sc, 1 dec, 7 sc) - twice (30)

Make 2 more sc, and 1 sl st. Fasten off and leave long end for sewing. Stuff body and attach it to the head.

 

 

Body with yellow trousers with blue stripe:

Start with yellow, and change to blue yarn after Round 11.

Change to yellow yarn after Round 12.

Change to cream yarn after Round 13

The reins consist of 10-10 chains and simply sew them onto the body. Depending on the yarn you use, you may need more than 10 chains. Check it before you start sewing.

 

 

Arms

Make 2 with cream yarn

R1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6)

R2: 6 inc (12)

R3-5: 12 sc

R6: (2 sc, 1 dec) - 3 times (9)

R7-8: 9 sc

R9: 4 sc, 1 dec, 3 sc (8)

R10-12: 8 sc

Cut the yarn, leave long end for sewing. Stuff the arms, but only very loosely. Sew the open ends together and attach arms to sides of body

 

 

Legs

Make 2, start with cream yarn

R1: 7 sc Magic Ring (7)

R2: 7 inc (14)

R3-4: 14 sc

Change to blue (or yellow) yarn after Round 4.

R5: 6 sc, 4 dec (10)

R6-7: 10 sc

R8: 7 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc (9)

R9: 9 sc

R10: 7 sc, 1 dec (8)

R11: 8 sc

Make 3 more sc. Cut the yarn, leave long end for sewing. Stuff the feet, ends only. Do not stuff thighs. Sew the open ends together and attach legs to sides of body.

 

 

Finally sew the nose and mouth with brown yarn or embroidery thread. Optional: sew pink blush on cheeks (under the eyes).

 

 

Earphone (optional, make 2)

Join rounds with a slip stich, then make 1 ch – these don’t count as stitches. Start the next round into the same stich as the sl st join.

R1: 6 sc Magic Ring (6)

R2: 6 inc (12)

R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) – 6 times (18)

R4: (2 sc, 1 inc) – 6 times (24)

R5: 24 sc

R6: (1 sc, 1 dec) – 8 times (16)

Start stuffing, but only loosely.

R7: 8 dec (8)

Continue stuffing if needed.

Fasten off and close the remaining hole. Attach them to both sides of head. Join the two parts with foundation chain made of chain stitches or double chain stitches.
